I don’t know about your household, but we have been loving Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV. It’s witty, full of science, and a fascinating look at cooking as both an art and a science. I’m looking past a few of the holes in the show and the unnecessarily rushed pace. I haven’t read the book, so maybe the pace makes more sense if you read it first. Anyway, overall, we love it.

Riding that science wave, let’s discuss science fairs. Do you love them or hate them? We started homeschooling before Tom was in the grade that participates in here where we live in Mississippi, so we haven’t encountered them yet. Maybe we will start one with our other homeschool friends, or perhaps our school district will let him participate in the fun, whether he’s enrolled or not; it’s something to look into.

Lessons in Chemistry got me thinking about science fairs and just how many children will start working on their projects soon for the spring. Parents tend to be thrown one more thing to work on at the last minute, and this is my attempt to help you with a few project ideas that I’ve been stockpiling. My notes app on my phone is full of memos like this: homeschool ideas, science fair project ideas, books to read with Tom, newsletters to write, and so on… I’m sure I’ll bring more of these lists to life in future newsletters, which will undoubtedly get written down on my newsletter note on my phone. The cycle is real, folks.
